Over the course of just four months, Mac Premo created a collage opus of his life using his life as the material to build it. Busted skateboard trucks, mixed taped, baby shoes, human teeth, baseball cards and canned meat come together inside a dumpster to tell the history of one man’s experience. To track this process of making the collage, Frank Collective and Mac created The Dumpster Project blog so visitors could see his progress as he carefully recorded each object by photographing and memorializing its meaning in a brief, sometimes poignant, sometimes funny, sometimes confounded eulogy for why he’s held on to it and what makes it special. It has been featured in the Dumbo Arts Festival and Fulton Market in Brooklyn and is currently on display at the Ringling Museum in Florida.
